Laura Rose Gee is a grade 8 harpist at the age of 16 and is currently working towards her performance diploma. She started playing the harp at seven years old, after being transfixed when observing the Welsh performing at the International Eisteddfod.
After finding a local tutor Helen Naylor, Laura soon became an award winning harpist performing herself at the Eisteddfod. At 9 years old she won 2nd place against the finalists of each of the 17 Welsh counties, when she performed her solo live for BBC Wales on the Cardiff Millennium Centre Stage. Following this performance she was invited to play live for BBC Television Children in Need at the Leicester Space Centre and subsequently invited to take part in BBC "Kids with Talent" hosted by Geeta Pendse.
For her achievements in music, Laura was awarded the Derbyshire Young Achievers Award from Derbyshire City Council in 2009 at the age of 10.
Laura's harp playing has taken her up and down the country with several trips to Ireland with the Derbyshire Harp ensemble. Laura has also enjoyed performing overseas as a soloist in Spain and Lyon, France.
