Firstly, I wish you a blessed and fruitful new year!
I suppose we are in the area of the year where new years resolutions, all made with the best of intentions, are standing or failing!
I am not someone who makes these resolutions, although this year I did come up with one that I encouraged the church I pastor to adopt...
Those of us who use computers will be familiar with the window that comes up as we close documents asking "do you want to save the changes you made?"
My resolution goes something like this: when I go to my bed at the end of each day and God asks "Do you want to save the changes you made today?", I want to be able to reflect on my day and say "Yes, yes I do!"
So this would mean that I have done something today that has made a difference to someone, might be a simple as a smile, a phone call, helping someone with their bags, praying for a person or something like leading someone into the Kingdom.
For me there would be a great sense of 'satisfaction' in knowing that I had a positive input into someone's life.
In John 13:34 Jesus tells us that we should love one another He has loved us and that should always be our motivation.
As for God Himself, well, He will say the same to you this year as last, no new resolutions!
"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come to Me and pray to Me and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all of your heart."
"I am with you always even to the end of the age."
"I will never leave you nor forsake you."
"...nothing can separate us from the love of God..."
In the context of these scriptures, we can confidently go and make a difference, knowing that He is always with us...
With much love,
